Patriot Barn Ash

Every piece of wood tells a story—if you know how to read it. Sandy East, owner of American Antique Lumber, harvested the wood for the Ash topsheets from an antique barn in the midwest. “You can tell the quality of the wood from the older barns vs barns built after 1870,” East said. “There’s a difference in how they tooled stuff, too.”

Ash is a remarkably durable wood, celebrated for its superior strength-to-weight ratio. Its natural flexibility allows it to bend without breaking, while its shock resistance ensures it won’t splinter under impact or vibration. Perfect for everything from high-performance tools to sports equipment, Ash is the preferred choice for crafting hammers, axes, hockey sticks, oars, and ski veneers.
