When is the Best Time to Buy Skis?

by Wagner Skis / Mar 01, 2024

Ah, spring. It’s a skier’s favorite season. The lift lines are nonexistent, the air smells like coconut sunscreen, and outdoor après is finally not a painful endeavor.

Chances are, new skis are the last thing you’re thinking about, as springtime slush and chairlift beer have lulled you into thinking your old boards may be tenable once more. But before you hang up those boards for the summer and move onto other sports, you must do one thing: order your Wagner Custom skis now.

Why is off-season is the best time to order custom skis? Let us count the ways.

It's easy to remember what you love about your skis when you are still skiing them.

#1 - Skiing is still on your mind.
Trust us on this one. Now, while you are still skiing, you’ll be better able to articulate what you want your skis to do for you, as well as what you like (and don’t like) about your current pair. Also, spring brings every kind of snow—from sneaky pow dumps to bulletproof groomers to glorious slush bumps—which gives you the opportunity to evaluate what your current skis’ strengths and weaknesses are. Six months from now (when your brain is full of summer memories), this will be much harder to remember.

#2 - Graphics turn out best when you’re not in a rush.
If you wait until the snow is already flying, you’ll likely be in a big fat hurry and will make the same mistake you did when you got that bad tattoo in college. Wagner skis last a long time, so it’s good to think it throughespecially if you are going the custom graphic route.
